Example Cases

Case #1

One boy we visited lost his mother to the Tsunami, and then devastatingly their house burned down.  The child and his elderly father are living in a temporary shelterr constructed of corrugated steel sheeting and concrete flooring.  the shelter has just one room and they relon on hand-me-down clothes from local families.  The family does not have a bathroom or toilet facilities so they are forced to use the garden.  The father used the compensation he received from his wife's death to purchase five water-buffaloes; this brings in just enough money for them to affort one rice meal a day.

A girl in her teenage years is very weak and losing her hair.  She struggles to leave the house when it is hot and finds the sunlight gives her bad headaches and makes her very sick.  She has attended a local clinic where the doctors have diagnosed her as having "something to do with her blood."  She desperately needs a diagnosis so proper treatment can commence.  Her mother was killed by the tsunami on Phi Phi Island, where she was working away from home to try and support her children.  The family has received minimal compensation for the deceased and have already used the money for consultation and medical bills.  This bright young girl is desperate to attend university and struggles to concentrate on her studies.
