Our Selection Process

Since the Tsunami, large amounts of money have been donated to help the children and orphans who were directly affected by the tsunami.  Sadly, little or no attention has been given to the children who were indirectly affected by the Tsunami but who are, nonetheless, suffering from the effects.

We currently have over 200 children and teenagers requesting our assistance and there are still hundreds more in desperate need of assistance.  Because our main focus in this project is to help the children and orphans who have received little or no help from other sources, children are very carefully selected.  Our team of community workers visit each child and their family at home as well as their school in order to get a clear picture of the child's situation and the family's circumstance.  While visiting the team prepares a case profile which includes observations and information about the child's home environment, living conditions, health, educational opportunities, and other needs which are not being adequately met.  The team then presents each case to the Project Manager, and together they determine the extent of the child's need and approve the application if appropriate.  Because our resources are limited we strive to find those individuals who would receive the most benefit.

We are continuously looking for companies and individuals to finanancially adopt a child for a minimum of one year in order to supply the needed financial assistance for education and living.  If you wish to sponsor a child we invite you to complete a Sponsorship Inquiry Form.  Each child in need has a short profile thatincludes personal information and how much finanancial assistance is necessary to meet their needs.

When you agree to financially adopt a child, 4Kali.org acts as a link between you and the child.  Although sponsorship is entirely voluntary and an act of generosity from you and your family, please remember that once you agee to support a child, it is a commitment.  The child will count on your help!

Our Support-A-Child team is in close contact with the children we support and their families.  Regular site visits are conducted to determine that the child's needs are being met and to gauge if the appropriate level of financial support is being received.  We also collaborate with school officials to assure that the child has been in attendance and find out if there are any problems the school may be aware of which we are not.

Please understand that due to security and child protection reasons the children's addresses are always kept confidential and we ask that all communication go through the Project Manager.  however, we do send regular updates on the child including pictures, letters, and school records.  For more information please see the Support-A-Child FAQ.
