The Support-A-Child Program

Our Children

The 4Kali.org Foundation's Support-A-Child program has been initiated to support and empower orphaned and underprivileged children; most of whom were directly or indirectly affected by the tsunami.  The  children we assist (from infants to eighteen year olds) fall within the following four categories:
  1. Children orphaned by the tsunami (including those who lost one parent)
  2. Children orphaned prior to the tsunami (including those who lost one parent)
  3. Underprivileged children whose families are living at or below the poverty level
  4. Children who were indirectly affected by the tsunami for various reasons (e.g. unemployment of parents or support being cut off in order to support tsunami orphans)

Our Focus

The main focus of the Support-A-Child project is to help the children and orphans who have received little or no support from the government or other NGOs.  Our aim is to assure the children's basic needs of food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, and safety are met via one or more of the following ways:
  • Provide monthly educational funds
  • Provide annual scholarships
  • Assist in finding employment opportunities for their parents and family members in order to create a stable income that can help support the children leaving the family self-sufficient
  • Perform regular on-site visits at both the child's home and school (if applicable)
  • Collaborate with local officials (either village leaders or school officials) to learn of any issues between visits
